Number of Hours: The Combined courses come in two forms: ‘Combined 5’ and ‘Combined 10’ courses.
- ‘Combined 5’ Courses: a total of 200 contact hours are offered in 8 weeks: 160 hours with a group + 40 hour in a one-to-one setting. The daily schedule consists of 4 group hours + 1 individual hour of Modern Standard Arabic.
- ‘Combined 10’ Courses: a total of 240 contact hours are offered in 8 weeks: 160 hours with a group + 80 hour in a one-to-one setting. The daily schedule consists of 4 group hours + 2 individual hour of Modern Standard Arabic.
Levels: three language levels of each group course are offered: the beginners level, the intermediate level, and the advanced level. The three levels may get subdivided into sub-levels depending on number of enrolled students. Students are assigned to small groups based on their scores from an online placement test and an interview conducted prior to the start of the course.
Text Books: Different international and local textbooks are used. Main textbooks are ‘Al-Kitaab Series’ (Alif Baa, Al-Kitaab I,II,III). The textbooks are supplemented by other materials and activities.
Course Content: Course content will be decided by the instructor based on the levels and language needs of the students. The topics covered in the course are carefully selected to enhance the students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar. The students may choose to learn Jordanian Colloquial / Dialect during the individual hours.
Course Dates: Twelve 2-month combined courses are offered each year as shown in the downloadable dates file .
